Frequently asked questions

What projects can you do?

There are lots of different projects in my portfolio. My favourites are blogs, newsletters, and writing articles. I’ve also worked as a narrative consultant on two video games. Anything based around establishing a tone of voice is my happy place. Before you ask, I don’t know anything about copyright law.

What’s different about working with you?

I’m a straight-talking plain English megafan. You won’t get fluff or jargon. What you do get is cleverly constructed, easy to read and enjoyable copy and content that your readers will love. If you’re lucky, my dog might turn up on a video call too.

Can I work with you per day?

Yes. My rate is currently £400 per day. This rate reflects my value, experience and the rate of UK inflation. If you want to see how my rate stacks up against other copywriters in the UK, check out the ProCopywriters annual survey results for average rates. For projects longer than 5 consecutive days, I’ll quote you a project rate instead.

Can I book you for a single project?

Yes. The project cost will depend on the amount of work there is to do and the type of content you are looking for. I’ll send you a briefing document when we talk so you can give me as much detail as possible.

Can I work with you on retainer?

Yes. I can work with you on a 3-month minimum retainer. Whether you need regular blog posts, LinkedIn posts, newsletters or articles, a retainer can be one of the easiest ways to get your work done without the fuss. Just brief me in and leave me to it! Be aware I get booked up quite quickly, and the notification bar at the top of each page will tell you my current availability.

How can we stay in touch?

You can contact me by email, video call, or phone call. All projects have communication built into the cost and I don’t charge a separate consultation fee. You can also get me on my mobile during office hours. Please note that you can’t contact me by text, Whatsapp or any other messaging service.

What are your office hours?

Glad you asked. My regular hours are:
Monday - Friday: 9.30am - 5.30pm UK time.
Any emails I send are sent at a time that works for me and you’re not obliged to reply at the same time. So if you’re in a different time zone or I happen to send an email after hours, I’m not expecting a reply. Honestly. Stick the telly on and reply in the morning.

How can I help you in the future?

The best way to help is to give me a recommendation or your feedback. It’s a gift! At the end of each project, I’ll send you a feedback form and, with your consent, I’ll use your feedback and a recommendation quote to help other people who might be interested in working with me. You can also pass my details on to someone who might be looking for a copywriter.

Do you charge VAT?

Not yet. I’m registered as a sole trader in the UK.

Are you insured?

Yes. I’m covered by indemnity insurance from PolicyBee.

Are you a member of a professional group?

Yes. I’m a proud member of the ProCopywriters network.

Psst, how do I say your surname?

Sedar is pronounced ‘sea-duh’. Just like a cedar tree. Easy peasy.

Can I buy you a coffee?

I’ll have a massive cappuccino, if you’re buying. Or you can buy me a digital coffee and support my fiction projects.
